TRANSAT workshop on online tritium detection techniques

Workshop in Paris 3

Organised on 30 September as part of WP2 of the TRANSAT project, the workshop dedicated to online tritium detection techniques gathered 24 participants.

Up to 12 techniques were presented during the workshop :

  • Penning jauge
  • Autoradiography
  • LIBS
  • BIXS
  • Plastic scintillators with PMT
  • Calorimetry
  • Infrared spectroscopy
  • Raman spectroscopy
  • Gas chromatography
  • Mass spectrometry
  • Ionisation chamber

The main conclusion of this workshop is that not a single technique is suitable to answer all the issues related to the tritium inventory and the contamination in depth.

Speakers came from the CEA, but also from the Jozef Stefan Institute (Slovenia), Hydrogen Isotope Research Center (Japan), Tritium Laboratory Karlsruhe (Germany), and from the Coria lab – Normandie University of Rouen (France).
